More Swim Run racing at Grafham Water 27th June

Belvoir Tri Club were well represented at last weekend’s Grafham Water Swimrun event, with 4 members taking part. Claire Grieves, who has spent much of lockdown honing her swimrun technique, completed the 10km solo distance which involves alternating eight runs of up to 1.35km with seven swims of up to 620m. Claire completed the 10km in an impressive 1:36:29, making her the 4th female home, with Claire commenting that she “loved racing” at Grafham.

Also racing at Grafham was Marc Tremain, who completed the slightly shorter 5km swimrun race. Grafham was Marc’s first swimrun event, and was used as valuable training for his 70.3 triathlon which takes place at Holkham Hall next week. Marc completed the 5km swimrun in 1:08:34, making him 6th male overall, which is especially commendable considering he got lost on course!

Finally, Darren Joint and Mick Oliver took on the 21km team event. The team event has the added challenge of working as a duo, with each member of the team having to stay within 10m of each other during the swim legs, and within 100m of each other on the run legs. The 21km course involves alternating 12 runs of up to 6km with 11 swims of up to 620m. Darren and Mick finished in 2:34:05, making them 2nd team overall.
