Busy few days of racing for Belvoir Tri Club

This weekend saw another busy few days of racing for Belvoir Tri Club. On Sunday 25th July, Sarah Chynoweth and Debbie Carleton took on one of the most daunting challenges that triathlon has to offer – the Outlaw Nottingham 140.6. The total distance is comprised of an eyewatering 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike, and finished with a 26.2 mile run.

First home was Sarah Chynoweth, with an extremely impressive 12:24:31 finish time. This superb performance from Sarah, who was completing this distance for the first time, meant that she was 27th female home overall and 3rd in her age group. Sarah said the race was ‘an incredible experience. Well organised, and the atmosphere and support throughout the route from all the volunteers, family and friends was brilliant.’ Sarah described the swim conditions as ‘perfect’ and said that her bike was ‘basically a very long picnic on the move’. Sarah’s constant grazing clearly paid off, as she had the legs to finish the run strong. Debbie Carleton followed in 13:57:15, with a particularly strong bike time of 6:39:23. Debbie finished the run with a smile on her face, but said ‘would I do it again – no!’. We shall see…

Over in Derbyshire, Chris Masters was busy completing the Locko Park Sprint Triathlon, involving a 750m open water swim, a 21km bike and a 5km run. Chris finished in an incredibly quick 1:16:32, making him 15th man home and 3rd in his age group.
