Background:

I originally came up with the bright idea of doing a triathlon to motivate me to get fit - my husband, sister and brother signed up too and my parents came down to look after the kids so it was a family affair. And it still is - with five of us in the club now! My involvement in the sport is almost completely focused on coaching now and my own training is just for fitness and fun.

I started out as a parent helper at the junior swim sessions and thought I might as well be a bit more useful by doing Level 1 Coaching course. I really enjoyed that and and went on to do my Level 2 Triathlon coaching and L1 ASA Swim Teaching qualifications. I have a developed bit of an addiction to coaching courses and have done various CPD courses in a range of areas including Biomechanics and Gait Analysis; S&C; Autism in Sport, UKAD Anti-Doping Advisor and Sports Phychology amongst others.  I have been inspired to learn more about Strength and Conditioning after completing the DIS Performance Coaching programme, which included being mentored by an excellent UKSCA coach whilst working with the triathlon team at Durham University.  Following this experience I signed up to do  a Youth Strength and Conditioning Coaching qualification and I've just finished the new BTF Diploma which is all about coaching individual athletes.

I'm also a  British Triathlon Coach Educator  and enjoy delivering courses and supporting people  to achieve their Triathlon coaching qualifications.
