EXERCISE PARTICIPATION EXPERIENCE:
I tried to run the Great North Run in 1996 and ended up in hospital!
Decided to do something about own poor physical condition in 2003 after seeing photo of self stood by a pig on a bush track in Uganda – couldn’t tell the difference twixt pig and self!
Initially started doing group exercise classes in Circuits, Spin and High Intensity Interval Training. Then started doing thing like Lakeland Trail runs, and Obstacle Course Races.
Studied for Qualifications in Group and Personal Exercise Instruction and coached groups and individuals on a freelance basis until I discovered Triathlon!
Started Triathlon in 2013/14 after a chance meeting with DTC members of my acquaintance outside FQ (drinking beer) one sunny Saturday afternoon. I am experienced at all distances of triathlon up to and including Iron Man/Full Distance.
As separate disciplines:
Swimming: Is not my best forte but do nevertheless swim 3 or 4 times per week in both pool and (in season) open water – I’m not very keen on sea swimming!
Bike: My best and favourite discipline – I regularly compete in social rides/sportives, occasional Audax type long distance events, and tri club based training sessions. I cycle (or turbo) 3 or 4 times a week.
Run: I enjoy social elements of running esp when off road. Compete in Cross Country League and in e.g. Hardmoors / Lakeland Trails trail series events. I’ve also taken part in a few road based Full and Half Marathon (as well as shorter) events. I run 3 or 4 times a week.
Pilates – Yoga - Circuit Training – Strength & Conditioning - Spinning – Skiing.
