NEW CLUB PRESIDENT AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Committee, I’m delighted to announce Iain Todd as our new Club President.

Iain has previously served on the Committee as Vice-President and Club Secretary; he has been a member of GTC for eight years.

We are also pleased to announce a number of new and continuing committee members who have kindly offered their time and expertise to help deliver ongoing services to our members.

Our new Committee appointments:

Club Secretary: Christina Cox has joined the committee as Club Secretary, replacing Iain as he steps into the President’s role

Welfare: Vivienne Gough joins as the Club’s Welfare Officer

Communications: Chris McAdie will look after our internal and external communications and social media, and is supported by the Comms sub-committee

Juniors: Jennifer Laskey will look after our Junior section and replaces Ben Adler who previously chaired the junior sub-committee. We’d like to thank Ben for all his efforts over the past few years.

Continuing to serve on the Committee are:

Treasurer: Jim Lockhart continues to look after the Club’s finances. Jim Also serves on the Triathlon Scotland board as it’s Finance Director.

Head Coach: Sean Webster continues as the Club’s head coach and has previously served as President and Secretary.

Membership: Fiona Roberts continues as Membership Coordinator, looking after new and existing member recruitment.

Trustee: Derek Sommerville chairs the Charity’s Board of Trustees

There are also a couple of other members who have joined the committee who we will announce in due course once they’ve had a chance to finalise roles.

We still have a couple of vacancies on the Committee, one to oversee our ‘Events’ which forms a key part of the Club’s offering, and ‘Sponsorship & Fundraising’ which co-ordinates our Club sponsors and helps with charitable fundraising.

We are also on the lookout for Trustees to join our Board. Trustees are responsible for providing Strategic Direction and Governance to the Club and Charity; we would be interested in hearing from anyone who has experience in the Charity Sector.

Club President Iain Todd said.

“I joined the club eight years ago when I was training for my first triathlon event. I wanted to join a friendly welcoming club who could help me improve. I was warmly welcomed from day one and it has inspired me to do and achieve things I’d never have thought possible eight years ago. I believe the club is the friendliest in Scotland. I hope that the committee will lead by example and ensure the club continues being a triathlon club for everyone no matter your age or ability.”

I’d like to welcome the new and returning members to the committee. We all look forward to helping the club work towards its 2025 strategy. The most important people in the club are the members so please feel free to contact any of us about anything. We are here to help.”

Please join me in welcoming the Iain and the Committee members and please offer your support to them where you can.
