Club Update December 2020
Tue 01 Dec 2020
Well, this has been a challenging year for us all, we know everyone faced many different challenges in 2020, and we hope to be back to a more active year in 2021.
Big Al's Butty Run
This year it looks a bit different, but this Sunday is the clubs 'Butty Run'. This event was set up in memory of the late Alan "Big Al" Allsop and has evolved to become one of the best events on our club calendar.
We are unable to gather in mass and meet up as normal, but we would still like to mark the event.
We ask if you could run anything from 1k to 10k and donate with Just Giving to St Giles Hospice.
Anyone planning to run with others, please ensure to follow guidelines as set out for your area, and if you want one of our routes around Sutton Park, please check this Strava route.
Please, share your run with others and post the pictures on Clubs Facebook page, we would love to see as many out as possible. We are all hoping for a more normal social run next year.
The past year has not been the year that most of us had planned, including the Club. We had some big plans for 2020, with investment in getting members to become Triathlon England Level 1 & 2 coaches, along with a more Activators. The plan was for more training sessions, Club events, and Club focused races across all race distances.
As a Committee, we are making some changes to the membership for 2021
- Changing the Club Membership system to Club Spark, where we will be able to bring training, events, news and membership into one place. Our Club Spark site is now up and running.
- Free membership for all existing paid-up 2020 members for 2021
- Previously been a member? Would you like to know how to get back involved? please get in touch
- We will be contacting all existing members with a registration link and asking you to cancel your current payments.
- Anyone due to pay towards the end of 2020, or may have already paid will be refunded to give everyone year's free membership.
Membership will be reviewed towards the end of 2021 for what will happen in 2022, and more news will follow as we get into next Autumn.
Training & Events
We are looking to start swimming again in 2021 and excited to have enough interest to get this started. Triathlon England has currently suspected all club swim sessions for areas inside tier-3. As soon as tier changes or an update from Triathlon England allows we will be sending out more information on how to book up to the swim block.
We are keen to get training sessions back again, to make them viable with your support. The plan is to have short specific training blocks suitable for all abilities alongside attracting new members to the Club and the world of triathlon in 2021.
Club Focused Races
The plan is to have the swim block and other training sessions to feed into some of the earlier races of 2021. What races have you looked at, booked, or would like the Club to focus on in 2021?
Please send us your races so we can publish a list of races where hopefully we will be able to meet and race at in 2021
