Sport England Grant Awarded

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a lottery-funded grant by Sport England as part of Sport England's Return to Play: Small Grants scheme.  The fund's objective is to support projects addressing the challenges coronavirus (Covid-19) has posed on participation in sport and physical activity.

Our project is focussed on supporting the return to training for our junior section in 2021, and the grant will be used to cover the costs of training additional British Triathlon Community Activators and Coaches to enable us to do this. The grant is also helping the club to cover some of the costs incurred as a result of moving to a more digital way of working in response to the pandemic.

Specifically, our project has three key aims:

  1. To increase the numbers of suitably qualified volunteer members able to lead and coach COVID-safe junior sessions so that we can restart our clubs junior section.
  2. To support the increased cost incurred by the club as a direct impact of COVID-19 for training sessions and support the cost to coaches for running virtual sessions.
  3. To encourage the continued engagement of club members with our sport, particularly the junior section, in spite of coronavirus restrictions.

We appreciate that Sport England have recognised the value of our project in supporting their vision of building an active nation and we are grateful that they have decided to provide this lottery grant to support the first of these two aims. The club will also be using our own funds to support the third aim and bring together a full package that we are confident will help support us to restart our junior section in 2021.

If you are a member or a parent who would be interested in volunteering with the club's junior section then please get in touch by e-mailing northdorsettriathlonclub@gmail.com.
