Updates on North Dorset Triathlon Club training, races, and events

Chairman’s Blog – Cake by the lake – 1 June 21

Hi All,

The wet May is now behind us and we hope for a sunny June, a June with lots of races, more training and more opportunities for us all to get involved.  The last lake swim in the spring series was followed by cake and an opportunity for me to reflect on how far we have come as a club.

The junior squad is going from strength to strength, growing in numbers and seeing some real motivated and talented future triathletes.  It is also great to see so many new, as well as old faces joining in.  The evening bike rides are growing in popularity as are the running sessions.

The real success, and at the heart of the club’s origins, is still the swimming.  More members than we ever expected braved the unpredictable May weather to take part in the lake swims.  We have also just held the first Thursday evening pool swim at the new venue (which is amazing). We have a limited capacity due to restriction so I predict that future sessions will book out very quick.  With 6 lanes there is more scope to swim in lanes which better match with your swimming ability.

We will also be looking at more open water swimming soon (Sea & Lake)

Juniors will be running sessions on Saturday as advertised on Spond but a reminder that there is no session on Sat 5th June (Half term)

I would like to say a big thank you to all that made the activities possible.  Without the coaches and committee members this would just not have been possible.

A quick reminder – West Bay Tri Marshalling 27th June – Please get in touch if you want to help out.  I will soon be in touch with all that have registered via ClubSparks to talk about the plan for the day.

Stay safe,

Chris
