Wellbeing & Social Weekend

Firstly a huge thank you to everyone who organised, booked, baked, ran, cycled, attended activities and generally helped to make the weekend such a success!

On Friday evening 17 club members took to their mats, snuggled under blankets and allowed Michele to calmly talk us into a quiet and tranquil 45 minutes exploring breathwork, muscle relaxation, hypnotherapy and constellation visualisation. Afterwards this now very chilled group enjoyed tea, prosecco, cake and a chat to round off a very soothing couple of hours. We also raised a fantastic £57.00 for our 2024 club charity, Pancreatic Cancer UK.

On Saturday morning more club members, in fact 17 again, met up to do the regular Wimpole Parkrun 5k in perfect spring conditions. So nice to be running in t-shirts and no mud to tackle! Most of this group, plus a few extras, then headed to the Waggon & Horses in Steeple Morden for a superb breakfast - thank you to Frank and Becky for hosting us, the food was excellent and great value too.

We rounded off the weekend with a social cycle ride catering for all levels of fitness and experience. Laura and Sarah took out the larger group on a 25km circular route suitable for novice and slower riders on a mix of road, mountain and hybrid bikes. Jane and Mike also took a smaller group of more experienced road cyclists on a 65km circular route with some hills and amazing views of the shire. With absolute precision timing the two groups met up within a few minutes of each other at the agreed rendezvous of Jamaica Blue at Kingsway Golf Centre in Melbourn for a refreshment stop. The weather was glorious so we were able to enjoy our coffees, teas, bagels, cakes and sausage rolls sitting outside with a backdrop of roaring dinos from the crazy golf course!
