Nine Go North for Celtman 2024!

At 5am on the 15th of June 2024, nine of Grangemouth Triathlon Club’s finest triathletes will be standing on the shore of Loch Shieldaig, ready to take on the Celtman Extreme Triathlon.

For those who don’t know, Celtman is one of the toughest triathlons in the UK and part of the XTri World Tour family of extreme triathlons. The morning will begin with these nine intrepid athletes likely getting eaten by midges whilst trying to calm their nerves before heading into the deep, cold, jellyfish infested waters to swim 3.4km in Loch Shieldaig. After which they will cycle 200km through the stunning Wester Ross landscape, an ‘undulating’ course with 2000m of climbing and go on to run 42km through, round, and over, some of Torridon’s finest mountains.

In a race that entry can only be won via ballot and/or Xpoints, to have nine athletes on the start list from one club is superb! For some it will be their first time, for others it will be a return visit and for one athlete it will be their 6th time experiencing all that Celtman has to offer (even though the 5th time was going to be the last…ha ha!!).

These nine athletes will be joined by amazing support teams and support runners from the Club, and all the Club members wish them the very best of luck for this crazy and incredible adventure!
