Team TrYthan Upgrade Bronze to Gold in the National Team Relay Club Championships

TrYthan sensationally won the 2023 Scottish National Triathlon Mixed Relay Club Championships at the Monikie Triathlon Festival on 9th July.

Remarkably the triumphant team consisting  of Euan Murphy, Nicole Campbell, Harris Callander and Ella Chalmers had an average age of 17, and were easily the youngest team competing in the championships.  But perhaps this is the reason TrYthan won!

Euan led off with strong swim and quickly opened up a gap of 45 secs back to Team Triworks, last years winners.

Trythan extended their lead through Nicole, with the second fastest split in the round.  At this point it looked TrYthan were on for a comfortable win. But TriWorks Edinburgh managed to claw back time on the 3rd leg through the seasoned medal and championship winning triathlete Craig Dale.  Harris did well to keep TrYthan in the race by taking time out of Craig on the run and then handing over to Ella for the final leg with TrYthan only few seconds behind.

In the fourth and final leg, Ella quickly caught Triworks in the swim and opened up a 25 second gap.  Coming into the run both teams were neck and neck.  Ella managed to gap a small lead on Triworks out ot T2 and hold on and take the win by nine seconds.

The large TrYthan support were immense, cheering the team on all the way, running from point to point on the course and willing their team mates on.

Trythan claimed the Scottish title in an overall time of 1:17.41, with TriWorks Edinburgh finishing in 1:17.50 and Edinburgh Triathletes in 1:24.52.
