Beginners Course (Couch to 5k)

The club started life as a group of people wanting to take up running with a beginners couch to 5k programme and this is now a regular feature in our training programme. 

The programme lasts for 9 weeks and is designed to take you from not running at all to being able to run continuously for 30 minutes. Getting there is a fantastic achievement, and we'll help you to get there at your pace.

We meet up once a week to run as a group, led by a trained run leader, and then  we ask that you go for another two runs each week either on your own or with  others in the group. We  also run a successful buddy system with our more experienced runners who are often 'graduates' from the course themselves! We then meet up at the end for a 'graduation run' to celebrate your fantastic achievement (with a piece of cake afterwards of course!).

Getting started

All you need is a good pair of running shoes and clothes that you feel comfortable in. You may want to bring a water bottle too, especially when the weather is warm. We will meet in all weathers, so a waterproof jacket is a good idea too.
