Running Prizes

New to 2023, we are going to run the following competitions, with prizes at the year end:

  • XC Prize.  Female and Male.  Award given to the runner with lowest number of points at the end of the DRXC league.  (points are awarded in reverse order, so lowest number = highest overall position).  Races counting are the winter series from 22 to spring 23.  We take the results straight from the DRXC results.
  • Road Prize.  Female and Male.  Award given to the runner in top place at the end of the road season.  The counting races will be the full LRRL series (below) plus:  Rothley 10km, Nuneaton 10km, Leicester 10km & Leicester Half (both October).  You won't have to do every race!
  • Handicap Prize.  Single Winner.   This competition tracks everybody's performance in the year over XC and Road and awards points based on well they have beaten their previous average.   If you run faster than expected, you earn more points.  If you run slower than expected you still earn points, just not as much.  Best X out of Y races will count for the award.   Details to be announced shortly.
  • Club Standards (Road).  In every race we run we can compare our times to what is expected for a person of our age-group and achieve a relative level of effort (Diamond, gold, silver, bronze etc).    Achieve Gold in 5 different distances and you will be awarded Gold.   2 golds and 2 silvers = Silver etc.    The LRRL is a great place to achieve this as there are more than 5 distances on offer.    Click HERE for the standard times .
  • Club GOAT.   We will be starting to collate Greatest of All Time records at each distance and age group and keep a permanent record so any up and coming runners can see what they've got to beat to be named the club GOAT for each distance.   No prizes, just for fun and personal glory!    The results sheet for the GOAT are here.  See the link below in the "submitting results" section for making a request to be considered.

We organise regular running with different groups - check out the FB team site for informal running groups.
