Nairn Triathlon

Inverness Triathlon hosts a friendly and fun triathlon each summer in Nairn, offering different distances (Novice, Sprint and Standard). It’s always a great day out at Nairn beach and the surrounding countryside. We were delighted to win Triathlon Scotland's 'Event of the Year 2022' award for a “fantastic and inclusive event that was enjoyed by all.” Follow this Facebook page to keep up to date with plans for the next event:  https://www.facebook.com/thenairntriathlon

Triathlon Inverness Kids Camp

The first camp was hosted in spring 2024 and it was a great success. Over 20 kids between 8 and 11 years of age took part to improve their swimming, cycling and running skills - and learn all about that important fourth triathlon discipline: transition. A duathlon and aquathlon were also part of the 3 day long experience.

There are a range of local (and further afield) events that members of Triathlon Inverness compete in each year.. These events include Triathlons, Duathlons, Endurance Runs, Etapes and  Audax  outings.

This page identifies the more popular events where members are taking part and competing.  These can involve highlands based community organised events such as the Applecross Duathlon,  some events operated as fundraisers for charities such as the Great Wilderness Challenge in Wester Ross and the Highland Cross, and more official events.  More details can be obtained from the event web sites or through popular event portals such as Entry Central or Si Events.

Triathlon and Duathlon

The go-to source of Triathlon and Duathlon event information is Triathlon Scotland. which  permits over 100 events each year. By taking part in a permitted event, you can be sure of a safe, fair and most importantly, enjoyable race experience. Triathlon Scotland provides permitting services to triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon and aquabike events across Scotland. The event permitting process is designed to support organisers in the delivery of quality events, but also to act as reassurance to athletes taking part in those events.

Club members take part in a range of Triathlon/Duathlons ranging from the shorter sprint races to the CELTMAN! Extreme Scottish Triathlon, part of the XTRI World Tour

There are also Triathlon and Duathlon events registered in Entry Central or Si Events.

 Running

Inverness Half Marathon takes place in March each year and is a great way to kick off the events season with the training burning off those winter excesses.

Loch Ness Marathon, one of the most scenic races in the world,  takes place in late September/early October.

For those wanting a more challenging off road route in the Scottish Highlands, the Great Wilderness Challenge offers a number of routes through remote and dramatic Wester Ross.

Cycling

The Loch Ness Etape in late April involves cycling round Loch Ness, on closed roads and is always a popular event with Club members.

Local Organisers Hands On Events organise two of the most spectaular Highland cycle events, the 144 km  Bealach Mhor and the 72km Bealach Beag, both involving a cycle over the famous Bealach na Ba pass to Applecross.

Highland Audax Highland Audax is a small friendly peleton of long distance cyclists living and riding in the North of Scotland. They organise a number of cycle events, from 100km to 600km each year
