May Fun Team Challenge Report

This has become a regular fixture on our club calendar, with club  members taking part in a month long challenge to see who can bag the most points by running, cycling, swimming, cake baking, Parkrunning, fun running, etc. Split into teams absolutely excelled themselves as they walked, ran, cycled, swam, talked, 'caked' and eventually flaked with giddy exhaustion by the 31st. The final week saw a Star Wars tribute act make its debut in Guilden Morden (team 'May The Force Be With You') and a group of fair maidens dance around a maypole in Steeple Morden (team 'The Maypole Dancers'). And no one batted an eye! #normalvillagelife

Last Friday evening gave us an excuse for a social at the Waggon & Horses and saw a small presentation by our chair Laura, rewarding the very worthy winners with their bottles of fizz and the individual highest scorers with rosettes. A special rosette has been awarded by the committee to Rachel T who we felt had thrown herself into the challenge with understated gusto, even surprising herself with how much she did over the month. Rachel is to be found at regular weekly activities, smiling and quietly 'getting on with it' and has made huge improvements in her running over the past twelve months or so. The challenge saw her walking, running and even swimming, with the piece de resistance being the production of an actual maypole to complete her team's fancy dress contribution!

Every single participant made a contribution despite major life events, health issues, holidays, extra curricular fitness activities that didn't score points (!), childcare and hangovers. Thank you all for making it a fun and inspiring, if exhausting, month. We'll be back with a fresh challenge in November!
