Rauceby Ripper and Grantham Swimarathon

As Belvoir Tri Club begin to gear up for the 2022 Triathlon season, some members are getting into the swing of things by taking part in some single-discipling racing. Last weekend saw the return of the Rauceby Ripper, a 9 mile multi-terrain course that takes competitors over trails, fields and some road. The weekend’s rain and wind didn't put off a field of over 220 runners, including Belvoir Tri Club’s Sophie Davies and Marc Tremain. Marc finished the course in 01:36:22, coming 41st in his age category and 188th place overall. Sophie Davies, who remarked that the run was her first official race in a very long time, put in an impressive performance of 01:12:26. This made Sophie 2nd in her age category, 6th female overall, and 50th person to cross the finish line. An incredibly impressive performance from Sophie who commented that the windy conditions were less than ideal!

This Sunday also saw the club competing in the annual Swimarathon, entering 10 teams. The club tries to make sure teams are as evenly matched as possible to encourage newer members and less confident swimmers to have a go and enjoy the fun. Although not technically a competition, a little healthy rivalry never hurt anyone, and BTC Team 8 - comprising of Steve Rogers, Paul Smith, Sam Campbell, Mark Wilson and Claire Armstrong - took the win with a mammoth 200 lengths being swum in the 50 minute session.
