‘DTC Parkrun Tour’
Next up is Aldenham Parkrun on 24th February
Course Description
Starting from the Aldenham Country Park car park, the course is two clockwise loops of Aldenham reservoir, crossing the dam causeway and looping back through the woods. The first lap takes in an inner loop of the reservoir, following the waterline (turn right at the marshal point). The second, slightly shorter lap (turn left at the marshal point) cuts through a hedged pathway to the finish.
Facilities
Car parking charge has changed - the new discounted rate for parkrunners is £3.00 (which now includes VAT). The full rate is £4.50, but discount is available to anyone who shows a barcode at the mobile sales facility outside the farm shop / adjacent the Clock House Kiosk before 10:00. There is now no lower spending limit on card/contactless payments.
Toilets, hand washing. disabled toilets and baby changing facilities are available in the car park toilets next to the exit barrier and next to the Farm Office (beside the Play Barn). There are also bike racks, picnic and BBQ areas and outdoor play areas.

'St Albans'
Course Description:
The course is, broadly speaking, three anti-clockwise laps. Start at the tree line opposite the Verulamium Museum car park. First 500 metres is on grass along the treeline, between the football pitches towards London Gate, then down to the path at the crossroads and along the causeway behind the toilet block before turning left at the Fighting Cocks corner of the lake. Proceed round the lake and when you get round the top of the lake, proceed up the slope towards the Inn on the Park, where you turn left and zig zag across a little field, through the large gap in the hedge and left on to the main path back towards the crossroads and onto your next two laps. When you emerge from the hedge onto the path for a third time, you will have nearly finished. Turn left as usual before turning right onto the path to the hypocaust and right again at the treeline to take you back to the finish.
Facilities:
There are public toilets right by the Verulamium Museum car park.
Getting There:
The parkrun start is in the St Michaels area of St Albans and is approximately 2 miles from the M1 or M25 (W) or 3 miles from M25 (E). St. Michaels Street sits off Bluehouse Hill and is accessible via Bluehouse Hill, Fishpool Street or Branch Road. St. Albans town centre is best avoided as it can become congested.
There is a pay and display (or parking app) car park at Verulamium Museum. There is an alternative, larger car park at Westminster Lodge (AL1 2DL), at the other end of the park - currently free for 2 hours (although this is subject to change).
Post Run Coffee:
Every week we grab a post-parkrun coffee: This week will be the Waffle House!
'Wendover Woods'
We are starting our 2023-24 Parkrun tour at the Wendover Woods Parkrun on Saturday 18th November. Let us know if you are going and we can arrange as much car sharing as possible. Will be great to see lots of members there!
Course Description
A one lap course on mostly wide (and very hilly) forest trails. The route is mostly gravel, although some sections can be muddy and slippery in wet conditions. We recommend trail shoes or trainers with plenty of grip. No surprises to see who holds the Age Graded Record: Lynda Hembury.
Facilities
Café, toilets, large car park, children's play area, family walks and trails, cycling paths, Go Ape, BBQs and picnic areas.
Getting there:
From Wendover take the B4009 towards Tring, take the right hand turn approximately 1 mile north of RAF Halton, signposted Wendover Woods and St. Leonards. The main entrance to the woods is found on the right.
From the A41, take the Wendover exit (also signed Dunstable) and take the B4009 towards Aston Clinton. Take the first left towards Wendover Woods and St Leonards. The main entrance is found on the right.
There is a large car park which operates an automatic barrier and number plate recognition system. Note that the barriers will be closed should the car park become full; you may wish to consider having a backup destination. Visitors pay before leaving the Woods and we recommend that you use the Glide App from www.glideparking.com to pay online and avoid queues. Charges are £2.70 for 0-2 hours, £5.00 for 2-4 hours, £10.00 for more than 4 hours. The car park is a short distance from the meeting point & finish area.
