CLUB HISTORY and Members’ Achievements

Stafford Triathlon Club was founded in 2005 by a group of 4 local athletes who all shared a mutual interest in the sport and felt they wanted to share that enthusiasm with others. The club has gone from strength to strength, growing in members with up to 300 now, welcoming new people to the sport as well as producing professional athletes competing on the international stage. We are proud to be your local Tri Club in the home of Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire.

However we don't just support Triathletes - the club has a very diverse flavour with members competing in a wide range of events that not only include Triathlons (from sprint to Ironman distance) but also Duathlons, Aquathlons, also not forgetting the individual Swimming, Cycling and Running events. As the traditional summer races come to an end, our club members also enjoy other ways to socialise like mountain biking and run cross country events as well as Adventure Racing. If you're wondering what Triathlon is like then check out our Go Tri events.

Many of our members have competed in events all over the Globe including those that have qualified to race and gained international honours in Triathlon and Duathlon at all age groups, the legendary IRONMAN KONA to European and World Championships. Closer to home, Stafford Tri cheers on large numbers of its members who represent the club in local competitions across the region, for example in Blithfield, Burntwood, Derby, East Leake, Outlaw, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, Southport and Castle Series Triathlons. We create a Race Series competition each year to promote local events and encourage all members to take part.

The sport has also proven such a hit with the younger generation that in recent years Stafford Tri opened its Junior Club and now invests in supporting our younger generations in accessing and competing in a whole range of events. Check out our Juniors Team page for more info on signing up your under 16s.

In short Stafford Triathlon members (of all abilities, ages, ethnicities, genders & sizes) are competing either seriously or just for fun in events throughout the year. Regardless of your motivation for taking part, all our members benefit from the friendly encouragement, enthusiasm, coaching resources and a wealth of experience provided by their fellow club members via our private members' Facebook page as well as our training sessions and many social events.

Whats more, in 2022 we were crowned Triathlon England West Midlands Club of the Year! Please get in touch to come to a few taster sessions and join our fantastic club.
