Chris Maxwell receives the club’s first Lifetime Membership Award

By Neil Perry

On 26th November at the 2021 Tri Club Christmas Party and Awards Ceremony, the club had a very special presentation this year.

Chris established the Chippenham Triathlon Club in 2014 and started the club’s journey to becoming bigger and better, with membership of 125 over the course of 4 years and a coaching team of 8 by 2019.

Success followed the club with National Relay Titles and in 2017 there were 3 podiums with the Vet 50 Men’s and Vet 40 Ladies both winning Gold, and the Vet 40 Men winning Silver.

The TriStars Club was formed in 2015, growing to over 20 members and over the years they have had athletes take part in the South West Junior Series and some have been selected to the South West Regional Academy.

In the early days of the club being formed, Chris did not think that this was possible and looking back it shows how much the club has grown and flourished under his leadership.

A few words from some of his fellow club members were read out to reflect on the success that Chris has achieved over the 6 and half years of being the Club Chairman.

Chris Maxwell was awarded with the club’s first ever Lifetime Membership Award as a thank you for his hard work and dedication.

He was also presented on behalf of the members with a Glass Award Trophy inscribed with the words:

“From all club members in recognition of your outstanding contribution in creating and growing our amazing triathlon club”

and a few other gifts - Wiggle Gift Voucher, Race Referee Cards, a bottle of wine and a bottle of Champagne to celebrate!
