Malvern Triathlon Club training update for w/c 26 Feb 2024
Spin, Running, Swimming, S&C and Weekend Turbo are all on this week - read on for full details .....
'Spyramids' continues into Week 8 of 10 with Team Davies ...now into the 8 weeks of Spyramids, 4 profiles - 'What goes up must come down', 'Gradually up, quickly down', 'Up, down, up, down' and 'Sawtooth'. After this the program will finish off with a final week entitled Team Spineos...please observe the rules as kindly provided by Budapest Christmas Markets Committee and we look forward to seeing everyone for a 19.10 start on Monday in the Malvern Splash spin studio. If you can't make it, please shout, Jaders are lurking in the shadows for spaces.... ONE SPACE AVAILABLE!
Coach Bill is in charge this week at 7:15pm for week 7 of his 8 week programme which takes place on tarmac around the Malvern Spa circuit that starts from ScrewFix on Betony Road. Each session is open to all abilities and the programme is designed to improve running form, and will provide a chance to improve endurance and speed. The inspiration and associated drills come from "The Cool Impossible" by Eric Orton. Dress for the weather and wear high viz. FREE FOR MEMBERS, BUT PLEASE BOOK IN SO WE KNOW WHO IS COMING
Coaches Henry and Nick will be poolside at Malvern Splash on Wed, ready for toes in at 7pm for week 9 of their 13 week block. The sessions feature drills and some solid endurance work for you which will help you build up from whatever your current swim base is. PAYG SPACES ARE AVAILABLE!
Our excellent online Strength & Conditioning classes with Coach Bill returns live via Zoom this week. There are early bird 30 min sessions at 6:30am on Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri and a 45 min session at 18:00 on Thurs These sessions are great for building triathlon-specific strength and preventing injury 💪 Join the new S&C WhatsApp group for the Zoom link for future classes, the latest scheduling details and more info on each class.
If you fancy an indoor cycling option in these winter months, all are welcome to join Dave Potter's Zwift Meet Up on Saturday or Sunday at 9:00am. These are 45 - 90 min sessions where everyone rides on screen together regardless of individual speed or power. You can carry on afterwards if you want to go longer, or finish early, or you can even do your own structured workout during the session, but you'll have some company while you are doing it. The time flies past! You will need a bike on a turbo and a Zwift subscription to join in. The club has basic turbos which can be loaned out to members, so please ask any of the committee or the coaches if you want to find out more.
