Club member Emma Broadhurst, her brother Richard and Emma’s children Iris and Solomon all took part in the Outlaw event at the National Watersports Centre at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, at the weekend.

Emma says: “The longest tri I’d ever done previously was a sprint (and I’ve only done two of those!).

“I really enjoyed the swim, although it was quite rough at times. The bike went much better than I’d expected. I got some friendly support from John Braithwaite at mile 15 as he overtook me!

“I found the run really hard, particularly after the first 6km, but the support was fantastic.

“A massive thank you to the NTC family on and off the course whose support and encouragement undoubtedly kept me moving towards that orange carpet!

“Being new to triathlons I’m still need to experiment with different distances but I’m certainly up for a rematch with this one next year!

“Unfortunately I came second in the battle of the siblings. But there’s always next time!”

My mini outlaws were very pleased with themselves. Iris ran around on her own because she didn’t want any of her grown ups “slowing her down” !
