NTC’s heroes were honoured at the club’s annual awards ceremony on Saturday 3 February.
Around 100 club members and their families gathered at the Newcastle and Hartshill Cricket Club to celebrate their achievements of 2023. Junior coach Matt Jackson and run lead coach Matt Harper were the event hosts.
The club championship awards – for highest age group placing over a series of races – went to Sandra Edwards in the women’s category and to Lloyd Bebbington in the open category.
Sandra had placed first in her age group in the autumn Oulton Park sprint duathlon, at the Shropshire Olympic triathlon and at Blithfield triathlon.
Lloyd was first place overall at the Castle Howard and Blithfield triathlons and 3rd overall at Wilmslow triathlon.
Patience Lamb was named as junior girls champion and Murphy Hamilton was the boys junior champion.
A new award - the Helen Mason award - was introduced this year to celebrate the achievements of a club member who embodies the determination and spirit of former club member Helen.
Jason Riley – who has made a determined recovery from his accident at Ironman Bolton in 2022 – was the first recipient of this award.
